Nikki Brown
UBC Orlando
I’ll be honest. I thought I had an advantage; I had lost over 30 pounds on my own before I started UBC #7. Because I worked out at the gym, I thought it would be easy.
I was wrong.
It was not easy. The first two weeks were grueling; I was sore in places that I wasn’t expecting.
But then it got easier as the weeks went on and boy did they go by fast!
What UBC has meant to me is that I have not only changed physically but mentally as well. I was never an athletic person growing up; I didn’t play sports. I also was good at making excuses to not want to go and work out.
I have a different attitude now and that is I CAN DO IT, I WILL NOT QUIT attitude. I have pushed myself far beyond my expectations and it amazes me! When we do the resistance training as hard as it is to push through it, I will not give up. When we do our team challenges (the run/walk) as hot as it is or as tired as I am, I will not give up. I love to push myself to see how far I can go. What color band or medicine ball can I go up to? How hard can I kick or punch the bag?
On a physical level I can SEE the muscle definition in my arms and legs and I can’t believe that it’s me that I’m looking at in the mirror. The physical transformation has also greatly improved my self confidence. I was told by someone once that because I had a c-section I would never have a flat stomach; I would like to say I can prove them wrong. The definition in my waist and abs is amazing!
I have co-workers and friends who have joined a gym and paid a personal trainer and have not gotten any results. I tell them that I guarantee they will get results with UBC! They have seen my transformation and still it doesn’t convince them to sign up.
This has been an amazing journey and an experience I will remember. Sifu George, Isabell, Michelle and Rachel are the nicest group of people I have met! They make you feel like you are part of a family and they are always eager to hear about your progress and will be there to help you if you have any questions or concerns.
You will only get out what you put into it. You have to make the commitment and put forth the effort in order to get results; it is a lifestyle change. I should know. After I made the changes I can’t see myself going back to the way I used to be. I will not allow it.
I realize that because the program is only 10 weeks, doesn’t mean that I’m finished when it’s over. I will continue on with the maintenance program which will be just as difficult since my journey started. I will do as I always do and that is remain strong and keep the I CAN DO IT, I WILL NOT QUIT attitude!!
