Life has a way of miring you down, if you let it. You can start out with the best intentions of keeping yourself young, healthy, fit and full of life. You swear: “It’ll never happen to me. I’m a fierce young tiger, I’ll never be middle aged and out of shape.” And then… before you know it… you’re sitting at a desk all day, instead of running in the streets. Your workouts get fewer and farther between because you leave the office as a zombie every day and don’t feel like going to the gym, or Kung Fu class, or a bike ride or whatever used to suit you. And not only are you sitting at a desk all day, sedentary, but you’re eating chips all day too, and birthday cake (it’s always someone’s birthday!), and hitting the fast food joint for lunch. Next thing you know, you try to take the stairs one day because the elevator is out of order, and holy smokes!!! When did stairs get so steep!? They’re not steep, you’re just fat!
And just when you think it’s too late, just when you think you’ll never get it together long enough to get back in shape, well, if you’re lucky, you find a program like UBC. UBC is great. What a great blend of exercise and attitude. I’ve always known that bag work is a tremendous workout, but never thought I could handle an entire class of it. Maybe a few years ago, but not now. But hey, you start light, you tap the bag, you keep moving. Easy does it. Then, a week later, you tap the bag and notice “hey, it rattled a little more this time. Nice!” And next thing you know, you’re not “exercising”, no, you’re on a mission. You want to rattle the bag. You want to see it wobble. You want to see how hard you can hit it and for how long. And before you know it you’re fighting through six rounds of bag work, going all out, and you haven’t thought once about how tired you are.
But you’d never get there without great trainers. Without encouragement. The UBC gang has been great. They are so friendly and encouraging. Everyone is like a family here, and everyone is always happy to see you when you walk in the door, even at 6:30 (ugh!) in the morning. This program has been great and I would recommend it to anyone!
